Calf shaping

Indications for calf shaping procedure

The calf shaping procedure is dedicated to people who want to improve their shape, supplement muscle and fat tissue deficiencies, achieve balance between the upper and lower parts of the legs, or those who have disproportions between one and the other calf. There may be various causes of asymmetry between the calves, starting from the asymmetrical structure with which we were born, to their deformations caused by various types of congenital defects (e.g. clubfoot, cerebral palsy, spina bifida) and acquired as a result of diseases or accidents. The calf augmentation procedure can be performed based on two solutions: using implants and by transplanting fat tissue

Calf modeling with implants

The implantation procedure improves the shape of the calves, increases their mass, increases their circumference, which results in the removal of asymmetry, restoring the proportions between the lower and upper parts of the legs

The inserts are made of silicone, their shape is elongated, and the surface is completely smooth. Calf implants are inserted through a 3 cm incision, made in the popliteal fossa

The variety of shapes and sizes of implants allows for the most natural and therefore desired effect

Modeling calves with your own fat tissue

Calf modeling using adipose tissue (lipotransfer) requires taking adipose tissue from the fat deposit (most often from the areas of: thighs, above the knees, lower abdomen, upper abdomen, flanks) and then injecting appropriately prepared adipose tissue into the place of the tissue deficit on the calves, improving their shape and volume.

Sometimes several such procedures are necessary to equalize large disproportions or to supplement large tissue deficiencies in both calves. Another procedure for shaping the calves is their liposuction . It is used in cases of too much fat tissue on the calves, causing them to look massive. In cases of calf asymmetry, liposuction of the thicker calf with lipotransfer to the slimmer one is sometimes possible

Post-operative recommendations

In the postoperative period, it is necessary to limit standing, avoid excessive exertion, limit walking, however, it is recommended to lie down more often or sit with your legs raised in order to reduce swelling. In the case of liposuction, it is necessary to wear a compression dressing/clothing for several weeks. Then, for about 3 weeks after the procedure, it is recommended to limit physical activity (avoid sudden movements and high physical exertion). During the first period after the surgery, hot baths, saunas and solariums should be avoided.

Modeling or building calf muscles with physical exercises is extremely difficult and often depends on the physical predispositions of a given person. Even tedious, regular exercises may not give the desired effect, especially in the case of disproportions caused by congenital defects.
