What is a breast lift procedure*

The breast lift procedure involves cutting out excess breast skin, thereby lifting and shaping it. To achieve the effect of natural breasts, the areola is lifted higher, and the breasts become symmetrical. The incisions can run around the areola, vertically, or be anchor-shaped, depending on the degree of breast sagging. All details regarding the procedure are discussed during the pre-operative consultation with the operating physician.

Recommendations after breast lift surgery

After the breast lift procedure, the patient has a dressing, drain and a specialist bra. The drain is usually removed in the first few days after the procedure.

After the procedure, patients may experience swelling, pain in the operated area, a feeling of numbness in the breasts, and decreased sensation in the nipples. All of these sensations disappear approximately two weeks after the procedure.

Unfortunately, the mastopexy procedure leaves behind traces in the form of thin scars. They are more visible immediately after the procedure, but over time the scars become paler and less visible .

It is also worth supporting the disappearance of scars by using appropriate creams and treatments, such as deep oscillation.

For several weeks after the procedure, the patient must wear a specially fitted bra both during the day and at night. Return to physical activity can occur no sooner than after about 6 weeks.

Over time, the appearance of the breasts undergoes many changes. This is caused by many factors, such as: pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations or the effect of gravity on the breast tissue. When the breasts are no longer as firm and attractive as they were years ago and the skin of the breasts becomes loose and stretched, a mastopexy procedure, also known as a lift, or breast lift, is performed.

The purpose of a breast lift is to improve the shape of the breasts and remove excess skin. Mastopexy also allows for a reduction in the size of the areola, nipple and also moving it upwards. The procedure can be combined with simultaneous breast augmentation .
