Breast reconstruction is performed after mastectomy, using an implant or your own fat to reconstruct it. Breast reconstruction itself can be performed at the same time during a single breast removal procedure as a preventive measure, or after completing oncological therapy.

Breast cancer is a traumatic experience. Many women have a hard time accepting the loss of one or both breasts due to cancer. In such situations, a breast reconstruction procedure is performed, which has a huge impact not only on the appearance of the body, but also restores psychological comfort and allows women to start a new life after the disease. As a result of mastectomy , trauma or other congenital defects, there are many methods for Breast reconstruction

Our clinic performs:

ΓΌ  breast reconstruction using an expander

ΓΌ  breast reconstruction with implant

Breast reconstruction methods

The most commonly performed procedure is implantation after prior preparation of the breast tissue. Often, it is necessary to transplant fat tissue under the skin, in place of the planned breast reconstruction. After the fat tissue has healed, the next stage of reconstruction can begin.

The course of breast reconstruction surgery

Breast implant implantation using a tissue expander is a two-stage method. The first stage of breast reconstruction after mastectomy is to place the expander in place of the lost breast. The expander will prepare the skin, by gradually stretching it, to obtain the appropriate volume needed for implant implantation. The second stage is the actual procedure, i.e. removing the expander and placing a previously selected implant in this place.

Post-treatment recommendations

Depending on the type of anaesthesia used, the patient stays in the Hospital for one day or leaves the Hospital after the procedure. After the breast reconstruction procedure, check-ups are necessary at the time set by the doctor. Convalescence lasts from a few to a dozen or so days. For several weeks after the procedure, the patient must wear a specially fitted bra both day and night. In the initial period, physical exertion should be avoided, hot baths, saunas and solariums should be avoided.
